eZ Publish has its own XML library, called eZXML. This library is used for several purposes:

• database storage of complex datatype content
• package definition
• RSS feed generation and consumption

Since eZ Publish 4, the eZXML library has been deprecated in favour of the PHP 5 DOM functions. There exists a list of how the eZXML API maps to the PHP 5 DOM library.
